Local network plans roller coaster season for 2022

The Arizona Cardinals are THAT NFL team in 2022. One that can build on last season’s success, or one that could sink to the bottom of the West.

Tyler Drake 98.7 Arizona Sports revealed their game-by-game predictions for the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, and what a rollercoaster of a year they expect this season. But with one look at the calendar, you can see why Drake predicted the year would be a wild ride.

The first three games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams will put the Cardinals to the test. And Drake doesn’t see them winning a single game here. And really, it’s hard to blame him, given the Chiefs’ continued dominance and well-rounded team we see in Vegas.

The last time the Cardinals played the Rams, I stopped the game at halftime, knowing a comeback was unsuccessful. And I was right, because the Cards only put 11 on the scoreboard that night.

Will the Arizona Cardinals skip a projected 0-3 start and make the playoffs in 2022?

Despite the predicted 0-3 start, Drake offered us some hope as the Cardinals won eight straight games. While that sounds far-fetched, let’s not forget that if AJ Green had remembered to turn around in the end zone last year, the Cardinals would have started the 2021 season 8-0.

Looking at the schedule, once again, we can see why Drake predicted an eight-game winning streak. During this period, the Cardinals will face Carolina, Philadelphia, Seattle, New Orleans, Minnesota, Seattle again, Los Angeles (Rams) and San Francisco.

While the Cardinals could lose some of the above, most teams are fringe like the Panthers, Seahawks, Saints and Vikings. Many predict the Eagles will have a good season, but they have stalled under Jalen Hurts. The 49ers will likely start Trey Lance, and we’ll see how the former FCS quarterback fares in his first season as a starter.

It was bold for the Cardinals to upset the Rams, but they also managed to upset SoFi Stadium in early 2021, so let’s see if they can make it two-on-two.

He has the Cardinals finishing the season at 2-4, with a final record of 10-7. That includes losses to the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And wins the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots.

This part of the season will determine if they sneak into the playoffs. I can see the L’s to Denver, Tampa Bay and the Chargers. Plus a win over the Falcons. But the other two games can go either way.

I might see the Cardinals getting there a little differently than Drake sees it, but overall 10-7 is an accurate prediction. Now the question remains: Will he catapult the Cardinals into the playoffs?
